Name of Temple
The Temple Name is although Harmandir Sahib or Darbar Sahib. But also It is called as Golden temple which is usually originated due to top of worship place of the temple is made up of pure gold which is made during the reign of Maharaja Ranjit Singh. As earlier the temple was not made of gold.

There is an Indian plum tree in the Sarovar of the temple which is very old. It is said that tree is very old right from the time when the construction of the Gurudwara was started.
Founder of the temple
This temple is constructed by the 4th guru of Sikhs Guru Ram Das Ji in the year 1588 and later on, construction is carried out by Guru Arjan Dev Ji and finally, it is completed in the year 1604. And later the golden work and renovation were done by Maharaja Ranjit Singh Ji in the 18th century. It is Said that before the construction of the gurudwara the first Guru of Sikhs Guru Nanak Dev Ji used to meditate here.
